Olja Becković is a well-known Serbian journalist, TV presenter, and editor. She was born on February 1, 1949, in Belgrade, Serbia. Becković began her career as a journalist in the late 1970s, and by 1980 she became one of the leading reporters and editors at the Belgrade-based Politika news agency.
In 1983, Becković joined the Belgrade-based TV station Studio B as a news anchor and presenter. In 1991, she moved to the newly-founded TV station BK Television, where she became the host of the popular late-night talk show "Third Eye" (Treći oko). The show quickly gained a large following due to the frank discussions and debates on social and political issues, as well as interviews with notable figures in Serbian society.
During the 1990s, Becković's program was often censored by the government of Slobodan Milošević, as it tackled sensitive topics such as corruption, human rights, and the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Becković continued to host "Third Eye" until 2006, when BK Television was shut down by Serbian authorities.
Aside from her work on television, Becković has also published several books, including a collection of her interviews called "The Intimate Conversation" (Intimna priča, 2008). She is married to film director Goran Marković and has one daughter.
